Our Commitment

Heddle should work for the people who run businesses on it, and for their customers. Here is where we stand today.

What This Covers

heddleapp.com, the Heddle dashboard, and the storefronts we build for businesses.

Third-party services sit outside it: WhatsApp, payment processors, mapping providers. So do the words and images a business puts into its own storefront. Our Terms of Service set out that split.

Conformance Status

Our target is WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

Heddle is partially conformant. Some of the platform meets that standard and some of it has not been assessed.

What We Have Done

Every color palette we ship is tested against the WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratio, light mode and dark, on every change to our code. When a business sets its own brand colors, the platform adjusts the text color on top of them until it meets the ratio. The brand color stays as the business set it.

We also run an automated WCAG 2.1 AA check over every page of this website. It reports no violations. Automated tools find well under half of accessibility problems, so passing them does not prove much.

Our home page puts text over a gradient, which those tools cannot measure. We measured it by hand instead. Every piece of text on it meets the ratio. The smallest line clears it by 0.21.

Known Limitations

  • Alternative text is optional. Businesses get a field for it. Nothing makes them fill it in, so a storefront can publish an image with none.
  • We have not assessed borders. A single setting controls both decorative dividers and the outlines of form fields. The standard treats those two differently. Until we separate them, neither gets checked properly.
  • Keyboard and screen reader use is unassessed. We have not checked navigation order, focus indicators, or screen reader output by hand. No one who relies on assistive technology has tried Heddle. Automated checks do not reach this.

Heddle is in early access and changes most weeks. We will update this page as we assess more of it.

Feedback

Email accessibility@heddleapp.com. Tell us what you were trying to do and where it went wrong. We aim to reply within five working days.

If the problem is in something a business wrote or uploaded, we will pass it on to them. Everything else here is ours to fix.

How We Assess

Contrast is checked by automated tests on every change, using the relative luminance formula from WCAG 2.1. The rest of this page is self-assessment. No independent audit has been done.
